Knauf Rock and Glass Insulation
Knauf Rock Mineral Wool Insulation provides long term reliable solutions. Its components are mainly derived from naturally occurring raw materials. Their excellent mechanical, thermal and fire performances are convincing. Mineral Wool products with ECOSE Technology comply with all relevant product and market standards. Now HVAC ducts and pipe lines as well as applications for sound absorption and climate protection within buildings can be professionally insulated with mineral wool with ECOSE Technology.
Knauf's Technical Mineral Wool Solutions, the Knauf Thermo-tek Range, comprise of a range of high performance insulation solutions developed specifically for the insulation requirements of HVAC systems and industrial plants. The range covers solutions for insulating heating systems, piping and air conditioning ducts, insulating industrial plant and power stations, and for passive fire protection. These include rock insulation pipe sections and glass wool duct wrap insulation.
The fire performance of Knauf Insulation rock fibre gives it the ability to provide passive fire protection. Buildings must be designed and constructed to minimise the risk of fi re and its spread should it occur, as well as to maximise the structure’s stability and the ability of occupants to escape unharmed. As well as acting as a barrier to the fi re, our noncombustible mineral wool insulation solutions will not add to its development stages, minimising its overall effect and consequences.
The acoustic performance of Knauf mineral wool insulation can help create an improved internal environment for building occupants. Protection from noise contributes towards the ‘quality of life’ afforded by dwellings, and a healthy, productive and attractive environment in offices, hospitals, schools and other non-domestic buildings. Our mineral wool insulation solutions provide high levels of sound absorption and noise reduction in new build or within existing buildings through retrofit, to provide improved sound insulation and acoustic comfort.
All the Knauf products sold on www.insulationandlagging.co.uk contain Knauf's ECOSE® Technology which is a unique bio-based binder used in the manufacture of all of Knauf Glass Mineral Wool products, and the majority of their Rock Mineral Wool products.
Products manufactured using ECOSE® Technology have a natural brown colour so you can see, as well as feel the difference.
Knauf's insulation contains no added formaldehyde or phenol. This means our insulation generates very low levels of dust, increasing the comfort of those handling it. ECOSE® Technology makes our insulation soft to touch and easy to handle. It is made from natural raw materials that are rapidly renewable and is 70% less energy intensive to manufacture than traditional binders, so it is kinder to the environment too.
Knauf Insulation Technical Solutions provides the complete range of products for applications in the fields of heating and sanitary facilities, air-conditioning and ventilation as well as for the construction of sound muffling units. Starting 2016 Knauf Insulation products for HVAC applications in Europe will be made with the innovative binder, ECOSE Technology.

Knauf Rock Duct Insulation (Thermo-teK BD ALU)
Thermo-teK BD 035 is a Rock Mineral Wool insulation board, bonded on one side to a tear-resistant, glass mesh reinforced aluminium foil that acts as a water vapour barrier and ensures a closed-fibre environment (improved dust protection in the room and during installation).
Knauf Insulation Thermo-teK BD 035 – 100 ALU is produced with ECOSE® Technology, a patented binder system, based entirely on renewable raw materials. The insulation board has received the "Eurofins Indoor Air Comfort Gold" award in recognition of the ECOSE® Technology binder used in their manufacturing process. Its use ensures a better room atmosphere while also making handling considerably more comfortable.
APPLICATION
Rectangular air ducts – outside insulation
Technical & acoustic rooms
The product is recommended for thermal, fire and sound insulation of defined Thermo-teK applications within technical insulation where a metal finishing layer is required to assure closed-fibre environment (protection against dust during installation) or a water vapour barrier is required.

Knauf PyroDuct Slab Insulation (Fire-tek BD 917)
Fire-teK BD 917 is a non-combustible, rigid Rock Mineral Wool slab reinforced with an aluminium foil facing to one side, for use in the fire protection of HVAC steel ductwork for up to 120 minutes.
Fire-teK BD 917 is fully tested and certified to provide up to two hours fire protection to HVAC steel ductwork and up to 60 minutes for kitchen extract ducts. It can be used in horizontal and vertical ducts, ducts passing through compartment walls and floors and kitchen extracts. Fire-teK BD 917 slab is suitable for applications above clean rooms, within air plenums or for aesthetic purposes.
Benefits:
Non-combustible with a melting point in excess of 1000°C providing excellent levels of fire protection.
Provide up to 2 hours fire protection to steel ductwork.
Applied in a single thickness, removing the need for multi-layer applications, and provides assurance of a uniform thickness and allows for easy verification of correct installation on site.
Slabs are faced with a reinforced aluminium foil, making it suitable for applications above clean rooms, within air plenums or for aesthetic purposes.
The fixing system of welded pins and square edge butt joints gives a fast and simple system which requires no special cuts, drilling or sub-frames and also makes the slabs fast and easy to install
Knauf Fire-teK® WM 910 GGN Wired Mat
Fire-teK® WM 910 is made from Rock Mineral Wool and classified as non-combustible (Euroclass A1) according to EN 13501-1.
When subjected to full scale fire resistance tests to BS 476, a system comprising one layer of 50 mm Fire-teK® WM 910, fixed by using the components and methods detailed on the following pages achieved 15 minutes insulation (I), and retained its integrity (E) for 30 minutes. Testing to BS EN 1366-3 on a single layer of Fire-teK® WM 910 where services penetrate the barrier has also show that a single layer can achieve 15 minutes insulation (I) and 30 minutes integrity (E). A full list of service penetrations is given in the Installation Guide on this page as a Free Download.
A single layer of 50 mm Fire-teK® WM 910 thereby satisfies the criteria laid down in the Building Regulations for cavity barriers, by meeting the minimum requirement of 15 minutes insulation (I) and 30 minutes integrity (E). When subjected to full scale fire resistance tests to BS 476, a system comprising a double layer of 50 mm FireteK® WM 910, fixed by using the components and methods detailed on the following pages, achieved 61 minutes insulation, and retained its integrity for 66 minutes. A double layer of 50 mm Fire-teK® WM 910 thereby satisfies the criteria where fire barriers are required to have EI60 and EI120.
These tests incorporated vertical and horizontal joints between barriers. Fire resistance is effective from either side of the barrier. When tested, the wire side was exposed to the furnace as this is the side most vulnerable to fire. UL Technical Assessment Report Number: 4790228023-1
Knauf POWER-TEK LM 550 ALU
Power-teK LM 550 ALU is a rock mineral wool mat, consisting of individual mineral wool strips (lamella) that are bonded on one side to a tear-resistant, glass mesh reinforced aluminium foil with maximum service temperature of 550°C.
The fibres, which are primarily oriented vertically to the contact surface, provide high compressive strength; consequently, a sub-construction structure is not required for round objects. Vertical orientation of the fibres also assures a pressure-resistant surface for flat-sloped tank roofs. At the same time, the mineral wool mat offers sufficient flexibility for easy handling and fast installation.
Knauf Insulation Power-teK LM 550 ALU is produced with ECOSE® Technology, a patented binder system, based entirely on renewable raw materials.
